Funding the Mission
The NextWave STEM Equity in Education Grant
Our grant funds STEM programs for students grades K-12 facing systemic barriers to academic opportunities.
The grant is used for curricula, teacher training and hands-on equipment. Our hope is to change stats like the ones below:
Less than 13%
of the STEM workforce is comprised of African-Americans and Hispanics.
Research shows that early exposure to STEM is the key to driving continued interest in STEM
More than 90%
of districts serving Students of Color, report difficulties recruiting and retaining certified STEM teachers.
97% of the teachers we train go on to instruct in STEM.
Less than 25%
of STEM jobs are held by women.
60% of the students we work with are female.
Less than 17%
of high school graduates are proficient in mathematics and interested in STEM.
Over 90% of the high school students we work with expressed future interest in STEM.
Help close the inequality gap that exists in under-resourced areas
