Summer Fun in STEM

In a recent study by the American Educational Research Association, it was reported that, depending on the grade level, the average student loses between 17 and 28 percent of school-year gains in English Language Arts during the following summer. In math, the average student loses between 25 and 34 percent of each school-year gains.

We’ve all heard of “summer learning loss” or “summer learning slide,” but at NextWaveSTEM®, we like to focus on what can be gained over the summer!

Summer, after all, is a time for fun! So instead of focusing on potential loss, let’s plan for a fun and educational summer. Summer is on the way and that means we can take our learning outside with Summer STEM Activities!

All great innovations begin with an idea! Whether exploring and controlling a real robot, considering the ethics of using drones, coding in the mBlockly application, and programming their own mBot robots for a specific purpose, summer STEM programs across the country are fertile ground for fostering curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and a growth mindset in every young person.

With our NextWaveSTEM® summer programs, you can get a front-row seat for fun ideas to help students unlock their imaginations while shaping critical skills and aptitudes for school and life success.
