Verizon Grant Provides Supplemental Funding to Under-resourced Schools

Chicago, IL, February 14, 2020 For Immediate Release - NextWaveSTEM, an EdTech company providing hands-on digital STEM curricula and resources for K-12, announces additional STEM Pilot Programs supplemented by Verizon grant.

Since 2012, Verizon has been working to help foster quality STEM education through its Verizon Innovative Learning Program. The program provides next-gen, technology-infused curriculum delivering a new way of learning, as well as free technology and free internet access. Verizon works with partners, like NextWaveSTEM, to build and administer STEM-focused programs that develop the kinds of transformations that change lives.

“At Verizon we use our technology and assets to build a brighter future for our communities.  Our partnership with NextWaveSTEM to introduce STEM programming to more K-12 classrooms is an example of this commitment, stated Steven Shaw, Community Engagement Director. “We hope that through this engagement and others like it, we can inspire young people to not only pursue careers in STEM, but also develop a life-long appreciation for the positive role of technology in society.”

NextWaveSTEM is committed to bringing STEM to 1,000 K-12 classrooms in the next year. The company works to secure grants for STEM Pilot Programs, offering courses at a discounted rate. They also provide resources for schools to apply for supplemental grant funding.

The EdTech company strives to be the solution for:

- the lack of STEM resources for the professional development of teachers,

- the inadequate opportunities for younger generations to be exposed to STEM programs, and

- the shortage of human capital in STEM-related jobs.

“NextWaveSTEM is an easy way for schools to begin a STEM program. We provide teachers with effective STEM instruction and on-going training so they can implement inquiry-based learning,” stated Udit Agarwal, Program Director and Founder of NextWaveSTEM. “Our professional development allows teachers to learn, do, and/or fail in a safe small group environment. With confidence in hand-ons STEM instruction, teachers coupled with our corresponding, reusable course kits, open up a world of possibilities to students.”
